The Azim Premji Foundation has announced the opening of applications for the Azim Premji Scholarship Cohort 2025, an initiative designed to support girl students from disadvantaged backgrounds in pursuing higher education. The scholarship offers ₹30,000 annually for the full duration of an undergraduate degree or diploma programme.
In addition, the Foundation has extended the deadline for renewal applications for students from Cohort 2024 until October 15, 2025.
About the Azim Premji Scholarship
The Azim Premji Scholarship reflects the Foundation’s long-standing commitment to improving the quality and equity of education in India. The initiative is aimed at ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent meritorious students—especially girls—from completing their higher education.
In the academic year 2024-25, the programme supported over 25,000 girl students who had passed both Grade X and XII from a government school and secured admission to the first year of a regular degree or diploma course at a government or bona fide private institution.
Each selected student receives ₹30,000 per year throughout the entire duration of their programme, whether it spans two, three, four, or five years. The funds can be used for tuition fees or other educational expenses.
Pilot Implementation in 2024-25
The scholarship initiative was first piloted during 2024-25 in:
- Madhya Pradesh
- Select districts of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh
- Itki block of Ranchi district, Jharkhand
Following its success, the programme is being scaled up in 2025 to reach more deserving candidates.

- New Applications: The portal for Cohort 2025 is now open. Eligible candidates can apply online.
- Renewals: Students from Cohort 2024 who wish to continue availing the scholarship must submit renewal applications before October 15, 2025.
